Runway Prompts

A Game of HORSE

Two friends square off on a rooftop parking deck and trade finger snaps that turn each other into whatever the other one imagines: a game of HORSE. Here is every prompt behind the chicken round, from the empty location to the enhanced Seedance 2.5 prompt, ready to copy or open in Runway.

  • Seedance 2.5
  • Nano Banana 2 Lite
  • Runway Agent skills
  • 5 prompts

Before you start

The idea is to lock everything down before generating the final video: the location, the two characters, the blocking and the coverage. Each step produces a reference the next step uses, and the last prompt binds all of them into one 15-second scene.

Every prompt runs in Runway Agent. Two steps use Agent skills: a character sheet skill, and the runway-sd-enhancer skill that turns a rough description into a production-ready Seedance 2.5 prompt. The skill file is available to download in step 4. Copy any prompt as is, or open it in Runway with the composer prefilled.

Step 1

Generate the empty location

Start with the stage. This prompt asks for ten wide, empty outdoor locations around New York with no people or cars, so every later shot has a clean plate to build on. The rooftop parking deck below is the one we kept: open concrete, light poles, a hazy skyline and a low sun.

The location image becomes the reference for lighting, lens character and color grade in the final prompt, so pick the frame you want the whole scene to inherit.

Location prompt

I need images of various empty locations around New York. All of them should be outdoors, with relatively wide open space. No people or cars present, only the empty locations. Please generate 10 different location images, all of them different. Use Nano Banana 2 Lite.

Output

The open top deck of an empty concrete parking garage, light poles and a hazy New York skyline behind it

Step 2

Build the character sheets

Each performer gets a three-panel character sheet: front, back and a close-up. Seedance 2.5 reads these as identity references, so faces, hair and wardrobe hold from shot to shot.

The prompt is one line because the work is done by a Runway Agent skill. Attach an image of your character and run it. The third sheet below is the same skill on a different character, to show how consistent the format stays.

Generate a character sheet for this character

Output

Character sheet for the man in plaid: front view, back view and close-up
Character sheet for the man in glasses: front view, back view and close-up
Character sheet for a third character with rainbow curls and a red plaid shirt, made with the same skill

Step 3

Block the scene with coverage shots

Before writing the final prompt, the scene is frozen and covered from every angle: mediums of each man, a wide and a close two-shot, over-the-shoulders, a low angle, a high angle and detail inserts. The prompt points at an annotated blocking diagram as @image4, so both men land in the same positions in every frame.

The result is a shot list to pull framing references from. The clip below is this step’s output, and the stills are frames from it.

Scene coverage prompt

Seedance 2.5
Open in Runway

Create 20 different scene coverage shots that depict the following: Both men are standing across from each other, staring directly at each other, on top of an empty parking garage in New York. The scene is completely frozen in time. Use the annotated blocking diagram in @image4 for blocking reference. Each shot should be a different focal length and framing, focusing mainly on the 2 hero subjects squaring off against each other. Shots should include: - A front angle medium shot of man 1 - A front angle medium shot of man 2 - A wide 2-shot of the men - A medium 2-shot of the men - A close-up 2-shot of the men - Over the shoulder focusing on man 1 - Over the shoulder focusing on man 2 - A low angle shot looking up - A high angle shot looking down - An overhead top-down angle looking straight down at the ground - A ground-level shot looking straight up into the air - Close-up detail inserts of eyes, hands, and facial expressions

Output

Front angle medium shot of the man in plaid on the parking deck
Front angle medium shot of the man in glasses on the parking deck
Profile two-shot of the two men facing each other against the skyline
Over-the-shoulder shot favoring the man in glasses
Low angle shot looking up at the two men squaring off

Step 4

Write the rough prompt, then enhance it

The scene starts as a plain paragraph: who stands where, what happens, the one line of dialogue. Nothing about cameras, timing or audio yet.

That paragraph goes to the runway-sd-enhancer skill. It binds each attached reference to a role, lays the action out on a timestamped timeline, adds camera and audio direction, and writes the consistency rules Seedance 2.5 needs to keep faces, wardrobe and lighting stable across the whole clip.

/runway-sd-enhancer The two men are squaring off in a parking lot. The man in the plaid lifts a single arm to shoulder height, then snaps his fingers once. The man in the glasses suddenly appears in an oversized chicken mascot costume, which is comically large. The man in plaid laughs, then the chicken man snaps his fingers and the man in plaid suddenly appears in a similar chicken mascot costume. The man in plaid then says "okay, i see you. game on" then snaps his fingers again.

Step 5

Generate with the enhanced prompt

This is the enhanced prompt the skill returned, ready to run in Seedance 2.5. It opens by binding six references in upload order: the two character sheets, the location, the profile two-shot and the two over-the-shoulder frames from the coverage step. Attach them in that order before you generate. The chicken round in the film at the top of the page came from this prompt.

Image 1 is a three-panel character sheet for MAN A, the man in plaid: a slim young man in his twenties, warm brown skin, close-cropped bleached-blond hair, grey-and-black buffalo-check flannel shirt worn buttoned, black tapered trousers, black high-top canvas sneakers. Use it for his face, hair, build, and wardrobe. Image 2 is a three-panel character sheet for MAN B, the man in glasses: a young Black man in his twenties, short natural hair, round black-framed glasses, thin moustache, small gold hoop earring, olive-green nylon coach jacket unzipped over a black crew tee, stone-beige cargo pants, cream chunky sneakers. Use it for his face, glasses, build, and wardrobe. Image 3 is the location, lighting, lens character, and color grade: the open top deck of a weathered concrete parking garage, painted stall lines, scattered light poles, a low mechanical housing at the right, steel pipe railings, a hazy city skyline on the horizon, low sun flaring above the frame, warm haze, gentle anamorphic-style flare, long hard shadows on the concrete. Image 4 is the blocking and framing reference for the profile two-shot: both men facing each other in clean side profile, separated by a body's width, skyline soft behind them. Image 5 is the framing reference for the over-the-shoulder favoring MAN A. Image 6 is the framing reference for the over-the-shoulder favoring MAN B. Two friends square off on an empty rooftop parking deck at golden hour and snap each other into enormous chicken mascot costumes, played completely straight as live-action comedy, covered in clean cinematic coverage with a hazy backlit skyline behind them. 0–3s [Medium profile two-shot, tripod-locked, matching Image 4] The two men stand facing each other on the empty deck, weight settled, holding eye contact like an unspoken challenge. MAN A slowly lifts his right arm straight out to shoulder height, hand open, fingers relaxed, deliberate and theatrical. Wind moves across open concrete, distant city traffic hum, the faint scuff of a sneaker. 3–5s [Same locked profile two-shot, no camera move] MAN A brings thumb and middle finger together and snaps once, sharp and loud. On the exact frame of the snap, MAN B is instantly replaced in place by a comically oversized chicken mascot costume — huge round yellow feathered body, floppy red comb and wattle, stubby orange felt legs, enormous padded wing-mitts, an absurdly large chicken head. His real face, glasses and all, stays visible inside the open oval beneath the beak. No dissolve, no morph, no particles: a single-frame swap, as if the costume was always there. His stance and position are unchanged. A crisp finger snap, a soft whump of foam and fabric settling. 5–8s [Over-the-shoulder favoring MAN A, matching Image 5, slight handheld drift] MAN A breaks first, laughing hard, head tipping back, one hand rising to his chest, delighted with himself. The giant chicken stands motionless in the soft foreground, feathers riffling in the wind. Genuine open laughter, wind, the light rustle of costume fabric. 8–11s [Over-the-shoulder favoring MAN B, matching Image 6, slow push in] The chicken raises one oversized wing-mitt to shoulder height, unimpressed, and snaps. On the frame of that snap, MAN A is instantly replaced in his exact position by a matching oversized chicken mascot costume in the same build and design, his own face still visible beneath the beak, laughter cut short into a stunned blink. Again a hard single-frame swap with no transition effect. An exaggerated snap, a heavy foam thud. 11–15s [Wide shot from the far side of the deck, matching the framing and horizon of Image 3, static] Two enormous chicken mascots stand squared off in the middle of the vast empty parking deck, long shadows stretched across the concrete, skyline hazy behind them. The chicken with MAN A's face lifts his chin and says, evenly, with dry amusement: "Okay, I see you. Game on." He raises one wing-mitt and snaps a third time. Cut to black on the snap. Wind, distant traffic, the final snap ringing out, then silence. Overall requirements: both faces must remain consistent throughout and must stay clearly visible inside the mascot head openings at all times — no face changes, no identity drift, no mask covering either performer's face. Wardrobe under and around the costumes matches Images 1 and 2 wherever visible. Both chicken costumes are the same design and comically oversized relative to the men, so the proportions read as a joke played straight. Every costume change is an instantaneous in-place swap on the frame of the snap, never a fade, morph, glow, or particle effect; camera framing, lighting, and body position stay identical across the swap frame. Keep the location, low golden-hour backlight, warm haze, long shadows, filmic contrast, and lens character consistent with Image 3 in every shot. Performances are deadpan and grounded; no mugging at camera. Environmental audio only — wind across open concrete, distant city hum, fabric rustle, and the three snaps. No subtitles.
